About the course

This race offers excellent opportunities for spectators to watch their favourite athletes on each part of the course.

Transition

Located on a grassy area adjacent to the East Beach Parking Lot. For security reasons, only numbered athletes will be allowed in transition. Bike racks are marked according to event - 4 bikes per rack. Athletes are asked to rack their bikes in the appropriate area. Map

Swim

Birds Hill Park lake. Course is marked by large buoys – 1 loop for Sprint, 2 loops for Olympic . Try-A-Tri swims 1 loop of a 300m loop. The water depth varies from 0’ to 6’ and temperature between 16C to 20C in early June. Wetsuits are likely to be allowed.

Bike

  • New this year a Fan Friendly bike course. This year we will be using the complete North Drive / South Drive loop for our bike course. Each lap will require the rider to turn right down festival drive towards the transition area before looping around the dividing island and heading out to begin the next lap. Plenty of opportunities to have friends and family cheer you along without having to make the trek up to North Drive.
  • As a result of this exciting change the sprint distance triathlon bike portion will increase to approx. 25km’s (2 loops). The Olympic distance event will remain at 40k (3 loops). The Try a Tri will complete one loop – approximately 13 km’s.
  • The cycling course is not closed to vehicle traffic. Birds Hill Park requires competitors to be off the bike course by 10AM.

Run Course

A scenic and challenging 5km loop. The first 180m is on grass from transition to the Pine Ridge Path. This winding asphalt path climbs through the trees then descends into the West Beach parking lot. The course continues through the West Beach parking lot, past the West Beach washrooms and turns onto the crushed limestone path at the western end of the lake for an out and back run between the lakes. The course then turns right onto a gravel road and follows the road to the finish line. Olympic athletes complete 2 laps and Sprint athletes complete 1 lap. Long Duathletes complete 1 lap for the first run and 2 laps for their second run. The section between the lakes is omited for Try A Tri, Try A Du and the first run for Sprint Duathletes. Sprint Duathletes will complete the full run course for their second run. The course will be marked and volunteers will be directing runners.

Finish Line

The finish line is at the end of the gravel road, close to transition. There's plenty of room for friends and family to cheer you across the line. The recovery food tent is located close to the finish line and features a variety of snacks, water, and sports drink to replenish those glycogen stores.

Please note : Access to and from the East Beach parking lot will be regulated starting at 7:00AM until approximately 10:30AM . Please follow instructions from the race crew and officials.
