Training
Triple Threat Triathlon Team training begins in November and ends in August.
Training prepares members for:
- Try-A-Tri – 300m swim/15km bike/2.5km run
- Try-A-Du – 2.5km run/15km bike/2.5km run
- Sprint Triathlon – 750m swim/20km bike/5km run
- Sprint Duathlon - 2.5km run/20km bike/5km run
- Olympic Triathlon - 1500m swim/40km bike/10km run
- Long Duathlon- 5km run/40km bike/10km run
Training schedules are created by our coach, Terri Wolfe, and posted monthly on the members section of the web site. The schedule includes one to two coach-supervised group practices each week.
Swim
Team members have the option of attending the workouts offered by Triathlon Manitoba or joining one of the masters swim clubs. Additional fees apply. Once training moves outdoors, open water swims are often held at various locations in and around Winnipeg.
Indoor Bike – supervised group practices
January to March – 191 River Ave. Workouts are 7:00 - 9:00 PM every Thursday and include drills, standing sets and tempo rides followed by stretching.
Indoor Run – supervised group practices
November to March – Reh-Fit Centre, 1390 Taylor Ave. Workouts are 7:45 - 9:15 PM every Tuesday and include drills , interval and tempo runs on Reh-Fit’s 250m track. Stretching and strength training end each workout.
Outdoor Brick (bike & run) – supervised group practices
April to August – Various locations in and around Winnipeg. Workouts are 7:00 - 9:00 PM every Thursday and include group rides, runs, and open water swimming (weather permitting).
